Picked up '73 T1 alternator at last BugOut - has cooling fan and external regulator attached BUT didn't come with an alternator stand. Are they the same as the one used for the generator? Seems I read they are different and that if you use the fuel pump you need a different one too.

nope - they are different.

you can use a generator on an alternator stand, but not the other way around.

I used a generator stand for the Hoopty, but had to grind off a significant lip from the back of the mount to allow for the T-1 alternator.
I assume you're still planning a T-IV engine? You can have a look on the 16th when we do dinner with Lane. You'll need a dye-grinder and a couple hours to do what we did.
