GOOD NEWS - all aluminum 5.5"x15" 356 replica wide-five aluminum wheels are available and weigh 10 lbs. each. Hubs are CNC machined and then precision welded to rims under controlled circumstances to control correct offset, trueness, and concentricity. They do not come with hub cap spring clips but you can install these yourself if desired.
Note that Mahle cast magnesium "gas burners" for Porsche 911 and 914-6 weigh 9.9 lbs. each. As for strength, a set of the aluminum replicas are currently being used on a 130 mph plus capable race car that weighs about 2,000 lbs. with no problems.
BAD NEWS - the wheels are $550 each plus $12.50 UPS shipping in the USA. I'm ordering a set of five for my new IM Speedster replica as the expense will force me to go on a diet I have been avoiding. :o)
Also, I don't think (?) they are clear anodized (for corrosion protection) so if this is desired you would have to have it done yourself.
