Aluminum interiors

I just picked up the aluminum inner/outer rockers from Dario and have been installing them for the last few days. I've got all the panels trimmed to fit, but haven't fastened them down yet. I tried screwing in a test piece with a 1/4 inch long machine screw- it didn't bite into the fiberglass underneath at all. What have people been using to firmly secure the aluminum to the cockpit interior? (I have a Vintage spyder) I'd appreciate any thoughts/suggestions from anyone who's crossed this obstacle before. Can't wait to finish things up, they look great. -Ben Genovese

If you want a smooth (read - unriveted) finish, there are some great adhesive tapes made for this by 3M - VHB (very high strength bond) tapes used to bond aircrft skins. If you ask me though - rivets are cool and look correct. Check out ITC BTC's interior - a work of art.

Thanks guys, I'll check into both options. I initially looked into riveting but was concerned that they wouldn't hold -they'd pop out of the fiverglass eventually without anything to back them. Looks like people have had success with them though, they do look great. I'm off to Home Depot, I'll let you know how it goes. -Ben
