Marty, have you considered going with an LED amber bulb?

When I switched bulbs from clear to amber on my fog lights I wanted to used LEDs, but after measuring the length of the LED bulb I realized it would be too long.  My lights weren't Marchals.  If your Marchal lights are thicker than mine an LED might fit.

I found the amber bulb in a fog light with a clear lens put out a light that was about half way between a clear lens fog light and a fog light with an amber lens.

Fog lights with amber lenses have a much more appealing (and noticeable) light.

Edit:  Do you already have amber lenses?  If so, forget what a wrote, expect for the part about LEDs.

Actually there is a guy on the web who modified his marchal lamps to use an H3 Bulb.  I made that mod and it works for me.. $2 a bulb 55w H3, the only issue is that you have to focus the bulb buy using a series of washers.  I am sure there must be an LED that would work but again you need to focus the beam unless you have an exact beam replacement LED.... ( example of H4 Bulb LED beam pattern similar  http://www.dynamoregulatorconv...ns.com/whats-new.php   )

According to the website, www.superbrightleds.com, you should use the same color bulb as the lens you are putting them behind. So if you have an amber lens you should use an amber led bulb. If you have a clear lens then you can use any color bulb you want as the clear lens won't filter anything out. Red lens, red bulb and etc. In the photos from their website the photos showing a red bulb behind a  red lens looks dramatically better than a white bulb behind a red lens.

For the best look get amber lenses and use amber led bulbs.

I'm over it

I'm sticking with white/clear bulbs (I have clear lenses)

Good idea.  I used my fogs as daytime running lights and switched to amber bulbs to make them more noticeable in the daylight.  They were a a bit more noticeable, but not much.  Kind of a washed out yellow.

Mine were never intended to improve the car's nighttime/fog lighting.   I installed them to improve the car's looks and make it more visible in the daytime.  I wanted to go with LEDs, since the lights were on every time I drove the car.
