For around fifteen years, I was the designated tie-wearer in my groups. I wore the tie (and took the heat for it ) so that my engineers didn't have to. Then, I changed companies, grew a little bit and found myself going to meetings were everyone else wore suits. Peer pressure is a powerful thing, so I started wearing suits, too. That seemed to fit in with our customer meetings, too - THEY usually wore business casual, I wore a suit but it commanded attention in meetings. As soon as I got home, though, the suit came off and a teeshirt and cut-offs went on.
Meh.
I always wore Bostonians for shoes (they seem to fit and feel better) which I bought at Filene's Basement store on wicked big discounts (along with my suits). As soon as I got home, though, I went back to Topsiders
The week after I retired, I delivered something like a dozen suits to Salvation Army, keeping three for odd occasions (weddings, funerals, college alumni meetings, etc). Only recently have I gotten back down to a weight that allows them to fit again, but at least I have them. Maybe it's time to put one on and go sit in my motor-less Speedster for a photo op.
Or not........
Oh, and my bicycling shoes? They close with Velcro or ratchets - just like my grandson's shoes!
