This years Amelia Island will have one of "Posies" cars featured in what I understand will be an East meets West, hot rod competition. Looking forward to having one of my friends' cars at this world class events. Anybody else going ?

I've been thinking about going back this year after missing a couple.
where would you recommend one stays ..... on the island or a Hotel on the mainland?
Anywhere you can find a room, but start looking NOW because this is a big event and rooms for a 10 mile radius sell out.

Unless you made a reservation at least a year ago, chances are slim you will find anything close. Most places have tripled their rates and require a three day minimum. I stayed for years at the Hampton Inn at Fernandina Beach, until they raised their rates and required a three day minimum. You may find a place north in Kings Island Georgia.

Its the same during the Concourse @ Pebble Beach. You'll see hotel rooms within a 30 mile radius increase rates up to triple normal. Even the dives (1 star) in the AAA book.
If I still live here...u can bunk at my house. I am 30 minutes south of Amelia...

That sounds tempting but it looks like we're heading south in February this year. 
Enjoy Bruce and Norma. We left Hilton Head early last month after the temps were colder than here in Hershey.

Not sure, but we've had some surprising cold spells.
Same thing in Daytona for the Rolex. All the hotels have gone to three-day stays minimum because everyone wanted to stay Friday night, then went to the track on Saturday and stayed there all night so didn't need a room, then wanted a room Sunday night (to recover from the race). So you end up paying for a room/night you'll never use. Gotta love their chutzpa.
