I'm thinking about going to the Amelia Island festivities next March. I assume a number of you have attended previously. I never have.

Tips, suggestions, warnings, ideas all requested. I would also consider meeting up with anybody who is also going to go.

Next August I am also trying to work out a trip to Monterey for the big auto week.

My boys  will be off to college and so I want to scratch some stuff of the bucket list, and these two events have been on it for too long.

Thanks.

Bob

Hey Bob, I attend every year.

Bring money.  Hotel food prices will scare you off.

We stay just north in a motel.  Parking is a bear, you may have to walk a mile to the entrance.  A few of us meet at the Hagerty tent around 7:30AM.

Thanks! Nothing having to do with collector cars is inexpensive. Let's stay in touch. I would appreciate any specific recommendations of lodging etc. when you get a chance.

Also what events you think are worth the time.

I recently stayed at an AirBnB for the first time and find it to be well worth the stay and considerably less expensive than a hotel and just as comfortable.

In 2015, we went to Europe for almost 3 weeks: Dubrovnik, Rome, Florence, Venice. We stayed in AirBnB places the entire time. The cost was about 1/4 hotels, and the accommodations were fabulous.

I also priced some stuff for Savannah, Georgia and Charleston. Hotels were actually cheaper.

You have to be careful choosing, but there are plenty of great places with great deals, especially overseas.

I attend every year. For years I stayed at the Hampton Inn at Fernandina Beach, until they tripeled their prices and said a 3 night minimum. When I questioned that the manager said " hey man it's our superbowl, do you want a room or not ?" NO. I then stayed at the Beachside Motel then they also raised their prices and I think a 3 nite minimum also. I now stay at the Kings Island submarine base in Georgia (i'm a vet) it is about 16 miles away but very cheap and clean

I beleive rooms at the Ritz are about $700.00
