Well guys i began by inventorying what i have and what i need to buy and wouldn't you know it, there was an unknown leak in the shed right on top of the boxes which i had all my parts stored and as you can see the water damage took its toll. What hurt the most was the set of original seats and steering wheel that i had been saving for the rebuild. Long story short, can't fix it now, so time to move on. So as far as speedster parts go, not frame or bug parts, what company's out there are safe to buy from? Is vintage speedster and vintage speedster parts the same company? I found beck/seduction/jdt cars/sierra madre from doing all this reading on the site. I'm trying to weed out who's ok to buy from now and not have to wait 7 months or never for a part. A lot of the companies i used to go to have closed there doors since the last time i had built a cmc 356. The car i have now is an IM vw based and i remember i had tried about 8 years ago to purchase from IM the parts to make it a roadster D, like the window post, glass, top and the overriders for the front and rear bumpers and was told flat out when i called that they did not sell parts. I know i had an old IM and most parts i would have had to mod for fitment but heck we build these things right and it is an IM right! nope! That really bothered the crap out of me. Maybe someone tell me if they have changed any over the years? So off to the fun with frame mods. lol and as always thanks for the input.

Vintage Speedster and Vintage Speedster Parts are not the same company but IIRC Kirk at VS buys parts from VSP. JDT, Japanese Diesel Technologies) just popped up on this site the other day and it looks like they're selling a childish looking speedster that resembles a coin operated ride you'd find in front of the grocery store.
Stoddard has parts and so does Sierra Madre and Beck Special Edition. Those are the places I know of, there may be others.
..........caution some windshield parts from different makers are not interchangeable
i.e posts to windshield frame fit
I don't see any real damage to those parts that couldn't be fixed with wire brush or sand/media blasting and repainting or powder coating. Trash the old master cylinder and VW shifters (although shifters could be cleaned up). Get new master cylinder and a CSP shifter. The engine grill looks to be a cast CMC hibachi alloy grill? A scotch pad or WD sand paper will shine it to a chrome-like shine.
You don't need an old 356 cigarette ash tray - bad for your health.
VSP seems to have great prices on replica parts - and flat $15 shipping (and no sales tax here in FL). MG Magic still has many Speedster parts - right in Miami.
An old Calif VW based IM is near match for a CMC - as molds were sold off to CMC way back. So CMC parts will fit the old IM. New IMs are a different story.
Robert that was to dam funny, it had me rolling " a coin operated ride you'd find in front of the grocery store" lololol. Alan and wolf ill check on those sites and that local store here in Miami. by the way good catch on that ash tray wolf. A lot of the stuff will be blasted and treated and what won't shine, will be dumped. I'm looking at the suspension set ups right now and what eyeball engineering or coolrydes has to offer for upgrades. I tend to stay away from things that later on i can't get parts for if the company goes under and i don't have to be under the car every week to adjust. Thanks again guys ill be starting my ordering tomorrow morning. I seem not to able to stop searching topics in here, i thought i was cured of this.
