Hi Ray, it takes the larger size 10 amp bulb - bright enough to check oil or change a fan belt, etc.

I had a retractable GM light on a Chev Suburban that was quite bright and had a cord long enough to change any of the tires.  Google it - they are still available - I considered it but elected to stay w/ a period correct Porsche design.

With a mag light, tool kit, and a  AAA card I'm minimally covered.

I have a mercury activated trunk/hood light I have been thinking about installing. The light itself is quite similar to the one in the post, it was a 'universal' fit item I got from Julianos for the '33 Vicki when I was building it, with the plan being to use it as a underhood light, that never happened thus I have this light...one of those items that I end up collecting when building or working on a car...good idea in theory until the part comes in...LOL

The light needs to be 'constant hot' to activate it, once mounted when you lift the lid and start to lift up with it the light comes on, it goes off when it gets to a certain point when closing the lid.

The light itself draws 10 amps in use and is led and reasonably bright for such a small lamp...another project for the cold winter months.
