Be aware that most non-stock shrouds don't function as intended, and over the long term will hurt the engine that's underneath them. The aluminum angled shrouds are popular with the sandrail crowd, but those are open cars (which usually have a ton more air constantly moving past the motor, which helps mask the pos shroud's shortcomings) that typically don't put on a lot of miles at a time and the motors are generally apart for refreshing or upgrades more frequently (and the accelerated wear is never noticed). Because they are play cars, guys get caught up being faster than their buddies, and then they have to be a little faster, then they....

Usually an external cooler is run with an angled shroud; there's no way to incorporate a doghouse (or in-shroud) cooler in the stock position without it looking butt-ugly (and why were we drawn to the polished angled shroud in the first place?).

In an enclosed car the stock doghouse shroud/cooler assembly (along with the thermostat, flaps, sled tins and heater boxes or industrial tins) will be best at keeping temps under control. Make sure there is more air intake than just what's available through the engine lid, or you could be starving the motor for air (and be the cause of your overheating problems) at freeway speeds. The only other shrouds worth looking at (in my rather humble opinion) are the Raby DTM (works well but doesn't use the doghouse cooler in the stock position and I don't know if there are any provisions for a thermostat/flaps assembly) or an aftermarket 36hp shroud with doghouse (make sure it has the air deflectors in it before you buy).

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it is what it is...to tell you anything else would be irresponsible. At least now you can make an informed decision. Al

Wolfgang- The Thing shroud isn't lower profile (as far as I know); it's a doghouse shroud without the fresh air horns. The Puma shroud was designed by Brazilian factory engineers (presumably with the German shroud technical info in one hand) and is on millions? of cars, so I'm sure it works, but I've only read about it.
