The temperature was in the 30s when I headed there in the Speedster. I don't think I have ever had it out when it was that cold.

You know I guess I've become jaded by all of the Cars & Coffee-like events. There are a lot of nice exotic cars in Michael's pictures, but the one that made me stop and take a second look is that lovely Studebaker. Seventy years later and it's still beautiful. Raymond Loewy was a genius.
I overheard 2 guys talking by the Studebaker. They were talking about the tail fins on later ones. One man said they were fiberglass and the chrome at the edge concealed the joint with the metal.

Some of them were and it was fairly obvious. I don't think it applies to the one in your picture, though. Those appear nicely integrated.
Guess they had to add the ugly fins to match other car manufacturers.
I remember '55 Chevy looked great - '56 was ok but '57 went the the big fins. Not sure what happened to Chey in '58 as it looked like a clean piece of paper was used. Then in '59 the really uggly fins reappeared!
I think the 59 Impala is awesome! Apparently many others share my view, judging by the prices they bring.

Agreed. 100%.
Many Studebaker fans may not know that the company got its start building Conestoga wagons.
My vote: '56 was a banner year for many cars, the Chevy included. Also the Fords -- '56 was/is my all time favorite. I do not need to mention Speedsters, do I?? They are included.
