Well, it's a new year and I just got an email asking if I had any hex bar upgrade kits left.

I don't currently, but would be willing to make up a few if people were interested so I can get a better deal on multiple heim joints, rather than just a pair for one kit.

So, is anyone else interested?  These fit only CB Performance hex bar kits and, once installed, any potential carb sync problems caused by wear on the bar end balls is eliminated forever.

You will need to modify (cut and drill) your existing Weber or Dellorto carb top cover.

Full, step-by-step instructions, including color pictures, will be provided.

The kit includes a pair of aircraft-quality heim joints, Hex bar end pins, springs, spacers and all necessary hardware.

If I can get the same deal as last time on the heim joints, these kits are $40 plus $5 for USPS shipping in the USA.

If you're interested, email me at speedstahguy at gmail dot com and I'll get going on however many kits I need to make up.  I'll be calling the bearing place tomorrow so let me know if you're interested THIS WEEK.

are you deleating the ball ends? adding the small bearings like cb had a while back? or the mono balls sandwitched in the bracket?

Ive only had my system with the ball ends for about 10 years, daily driven, only carI own,& have no issue with the ball ends.I did rework a less than 1000 mile 2387 in a 912 with the glass bregman shroud that has the mono balls in the aluminum brackets witch were about dead/loose with less than 1000 miles.I use synthetic greezzee in mine.what seems to be the issue? just wondering.

This kit eliminates the problem of the ball wearing in the socket at the end of the existing CB Performance hex bar linkage.  In the past, we have seen enough wear in 2000 miles to allow the left and right carbs to run out of sync somewhere in their operational range.  Usually, there is enough slop in the socket that you can feel movement just by applying lateral pressure to the end of the bar.  If you have not experienced this, then this kit is not for you.

It replaces the ball and socket at the ends of the hex bar (which should have been lubed every oil change but CB never told us that and then they wore out) with a 5/16" dowel pin which pivots in an aircraft quality heim joint.  The heim joint must be lubed, too, but are far less likely to wear and seem to last for many years, thus far.

The kit consists of these components:

Parts List

1. (2) 5/16" ID aircraft quality Heim Joints

2. (2) 5/16" X 24 Nylok Stop Nuts

3. (2) 5/16” X 24 Jam Nuts

4. (4) 5/16" flat washers

5. (2) 5/16 X 2" steel Dowel Pins

6. (2) 5/16" ID X 3/4" spacer tubes

7. (2) 1/8” X 5/8” Roll Pins

8. (2) 3/8" ID X 1-1/2" Springs

9. (1) Detailed Instructions on CD-ROM

To install, the existing hex bar ball mounting tabs cast into the carb tops must be removed and a hole drilled in the plate to accommodate the mounting of the heim joints.  Detailed instructions as to rework of the cover and placement of the heim joints are provided in the instructions, as well as set-up and operation of the linkage after the kit is installed.

I don't have a picture of the finished rework (and this site won't let me upload from my phone) so all I have is a picture of the kit components.

Tom:  I'm not using the iPhone app - going direct from Safari and it's STILL impossible.  Now I understand why Cory stays on FB!

EDIT:  Damn!  When I hit "submit reply" with that image above it blew away Safari!  Guess I won't be loading any more photos on this site!  Hope it doesn't happen again when I hit send for this edit!

yup thats the cb dead one I have(bought it dead cheep,& it has a steel hex, witch I will replace with aluminum) I have the one on my car that is the empi style,& who else Im not sure.but it works great.I made some billet adaptors for it 2 years ago when I went to diferent intakes,& I use the balls from an old bugpack tyco steel tube type in the hex bar for this motor,& still like it came from empi for my other motor. your system looks good, but I would tap the hexbar&thread into it,lock it with dubble nuts.keep them clean&oiled they should be good to go. as with everything just keep an eye on it.

When you make a post (such as this one) you click the "Add Attachments" green plus sign in the lower left.  You can then upload whatever pics you want that are stored on your computer.  I've done it with Explorer, Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.  It's easier than on the old site.  For links to photobucket, just cut and paste the link (e.g., http://s53.beta.photobucket.co...?albumview=slideshow).
