Hebert's Candy Mansion in Shrewsbury Mass., has a cruise night every Thursday, similar to "Cars and Coffee".
Kathy and I were there a few weeeks ago, and everyone was exiting the same way - Heavy lead-footing as they exited out past the traffic cop stopping traffic for them (and VERY tolerant of the lead-footed car owners).
As a bunch were leaving in a group, some ya-hoo in a Lexus SUV pulls forward toward the cops and cars and almost runs into one of the exiting cars AND the cop. The cop (a local) stops him dead in the lane by jumping in front of him, chews his ear for a few seconds (still waving cars out of Hebert's driveway) and then tells him to pull over off the road, out of the way.
He directs the last of that group of cruise cars out of the driveway, then walks over to Mr. Lexus SUV and gives him Holy Hell for several minutes, telling him he's a traffic hazard AND he shouldn't be talking on his cell phone while he's "supposedly" driving. In the end, he writes the guy upwith a ticket, to the cheers of a bunch of people watching from the side of the road.
When Mr. Lexus SUV finally was allowed to leave, we all gave the Cop a standing ovation.....
Who says there's no justice?????
