Gordon,
How about some type of display with photos of many, many stars and famous people driving Speedsters? Also ... Sharon has made streamers to attach to everyone's mirrors for the parade that we will be in at Morro Bay. If you would like, we can bring them to Carlisle so all of our group would have something else to identify them as a unified organization.

Happy Trails,
Dusty and LMS (the Lovely Miss Sharon)
Just got a notice that the Carlisle Import and Kit Car Show requires ALL clubs to display a banner on their tent with their club name (we have for the past three years, so we're all set there) AND "An award will be presented on Sunday to the club with the most creative club tent display."

So I'm looking for two things: 1.) Someone who will take on this "Cause Celebre" and help us come up with a Boffo Tent Display for this year, and 2.) some Great ideas from people as to what we might do. (I thought of a full-size banner of a Speedster and another of a Spyder, but that might get expensive.)

Who wants to step forward and take on this challenge??
The "surfs up" theme is a great suggestion Angela. Ive heard numerous times in posts to "be sure and pack the hawain shirts" for Carlislle. We can already strike that off of the list. I think anyone attending the event can really identify this little california car with a surfboard occupying the passenger seat. It seems like it would all tie together very nicely. These cars seem to represent a layed back lifestyle. "Lifes a Beach" if you will. My two cents.

Paul (who does not own a hawain shirt).
Well, I have a couple of illuminated Palm Trees that I brought up from here to Massachusetts to put on the front porch for Christmas. They might do the trick. Might need a few more, though - it's a large-ish tent. I have nothing in the way of Surfboards, so that'll be up to someone else.

As far as the Hawaiian shirts go, I've got those (as some of you already know).

OK, so who wants to be the "Big Kahuna" of Tent decorating?

There's a free "Egg Sammich" in it for ya (and the accolades of Speedster and Spyder Dudes and Dudettes!!)

Maybe we could work in a "James Dean the Surfer Dude" thing with Danny's Spyder and a surf board with "Little Bastard" lettered on it.....

In the meantime, here's one of my shirts (from "Land's End", no less!)

OK, I'm going with Angela's "Surf's Up" suggestion and so far I have collected the following:

Two, Lifelike-looking artificial Palm Trees

A couple of Pink Flamingos

A Monkey Motif Wind Sock

Several Kitschy-looking, Surf related table icons

What I'm still looking for:

A "grass skirt" styled table skirt or something equally Surfy

One or two Surf Boards

Several Tiki torches (with oil would be a bonus - we'll light'em)

Hawaiian looking beach chairs

Anything else Hawaiian or surf related you can think of.

We can't bring in a truck load of sand to make a beach (already checked that out with the Carlisle folks - big NO! there....) so any other suggestions are welcome.

Please let me (us) know what you're bringing.

Remember......we have no electricity at the tent unless someone really needs it and then we'll need a really quiet generator, too.

Thanks! Gordon
It's a F. M. to me where he went. I contacted him last year about Carlisle 2007 and he told me he had other things going on....graduations or something. I saw his car in a great article in the "other" kit car magazine and also heard rumors that he had problems with his paint. After that, he seemed to drop off the map as you said. I sure miss him.
