I hope they get their $41,000.  As they say a rising tide lifts all boats.  Nothing wrong with increasing value in our cars.   I would like the explosion in air cooled Porsche market values is starting trickling down to our Speedsters and 550 Spyders.  Yes, that price is very high, but up beats down in my book. Just sayin'.

Any new, naive shopper to the Speedster replica market might stumble onto that add and bite. The more careful shopper will find this site and start to figure out the differences. I'm a classic example. I moved too quickly with a buy (actually a trade) back in 2009. Over the past 5 years I have learned much from all of you guys, in addition to gaining new friends. Should PP be chastised for trying to make a few extra fast bucks? Maybe their customer(s) should be blamed for not being a careful shopper.

As a WA resident I can confirm they do sell no less than  6-8 of the VS cars a year.  They are also willing to offer you up to  VS invoice price for a car with 500-1000 miles. That's what they offererd me in 2013 at a local cars and coffee.   This last summer they moved a lot of new and used VS.

i do hope they keep selling these VS cars at such inflated prices.... this will just make it easier for me to sell mine around Seattle if and when I decide to.

A couple new JPs coupes also found their way up here this summer/fall.   There is starting to be more of a following for these type of cars here.

this is all good I feel.

Park Place does have a lot of nice cars...but are way more expensive usually. About 16 years ago they became Superformance Cobra dealers. This was about the time I was looking for my first Cobra. They had the exact car I was looking for, sans engine and trans on their inventory but they were wanting over $10k over suggested list plus shipping/handling and dealer prep of near $3k and would not deal at all on it. So, I contacted the next closest dealer in Reno, they didn't have one but would order one in if I put a deposit down, so I put a deposit down and a week later got a phone call...my car was in. It was the same car I had looked at in Seattle, same chassis/vin number...lol. Flew to Reno and bought it for the $31K price, including shipping/handling dealer prep, below suggested retail. They then arranged for me to get the 428BB and toploader built and installed by a company in Reno they always used. Five weeks later the car was finished and shipped to Park Place where I picked it up much to the chagrin of the sales staff I'd originally dealt with there.

We visited Park Place several times while living out there over the years and always came away with the feeling the staff were just to 'busy' to be of service.

I'm not against what they are doing. If you don't want to pay their price, do what most people do and go somewhere else. Besides I've got so much money in mine, if they inflate the sales prices a little maybe if I sell mine some day I won't get clipped so bad. I wonder when Vintage switched from the boat deck tread sandpaper sill covers to the stock ribbed rubber ones?  They also put the metal carpet retaining strips on. I'd like to get some of the carpet retainers.  Ya think they are getting them from Sierra Madre?

VS stock door sill is still the sandpaper, but you can ask them to do the ribbed rubber and carpet retainer.   Kirk did mine for no charge during the build.

Not sure were kirk gets his parts, but If you want to buy the various door sill rubber/ carpet retainer parts, check out NLA / stoddard.... They are cheaper than Sierra Madre.

cheers

Luis

Sure found that true about the young, wealthy and naive, when we lived there.
