I'm toying with the idea of making a hardtop...would anyone have an idea where I could source a suitable rear window ? I'd prefer glass, not plexi or lexan etc. Are there any suppliers of small windows for custom / vintage cars etc. ? Thanks.

I think you just need to go to any glass shop with your measurements and they will cut you one.
A friend of mine just did this for a windshield on his rat rod ford and it was surprisingly inexpensive.

Thanks for that. Is that rat rod windshielf curved though? I've got a spare, cracked windshield to start with. It would almost do...wish it was a couple of inches narrower.
It has a slight curved from what I recall.
David, cut that "couple of inches wide" window in half and make a split window rear.
Just thinking out loud here.
Use automotive glass, do not us any old glass from a glass shop. VERY dangerous to use non automotive glass in an automotive application.
VERY Dangerous
Rear window in the VW beetle cabriolet is small - probably get one with heat defrost wires.
If you are going to make the top yourself, get the glass first and make the top fit it. Much easier than the other way...
the miata glass on the convertibles would be perfect
Now that's a good idea. Holy crap, Gerddddd! Next thing you know you'll be rebuilding an engine or something.
NO LANE, NEVER LANE. BUT I DO LIKE THE REAR WINDOW OF MY MIATA
Miata's are gay, that's why you like the "rear" window, kinda like the "back door" man....
not that there's anything wrong with that....(right)
Gerd, I am sorry to say that your Chicago membership has just been revoked. You may be able to re-apply after obtaining another 356 Coupe, Speedster or Cabriolet but I cant not guarantee that you will be accepted. The Windy City Mafia has a zero tolerance policy.
If you make a template I can have my glass people make it, we are working on a hardtop and they are making the glass for us as well
Thanks for that badcarrera. No need for one right now. I've shelved my hardtop idea as it never would have been ready for the Pumkin Run. If others are making one, I'd likely buy one from them and make it fit my IM. You say you are working on a hardtop...what car is it shaped for?
Ours is a retractable/targa and it will truly adapt to all replicas and originals
