Ted, yer gettin' squat for ideas in Alb so if you're keen enough, I do know of a very reputable old school VW shop there that could look into it for you. You'd have to pay a couple of bucks though, but I'm sure this lad would give a very honest appraisal.

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately the car in question is titled as a 1985, with VIN Certification having been waived. Getting that registered in California would be counter productive. Effectively it would mean a smog cert every two years.

As such, I think I'm going to pass on this one.
