Just wondering if we have any SOC members in N.C.? Charlotte, specifically.

A few miles from the NC border in Norfolk, VA. Near the ocean and bay. Not close to Charlotte. Lead on something in Charlotte?
I am moving to waxhaw very soon...
Pieter van Rossum, Clint Owings, and Scott Teele are in the mountains, but I'm not aware of anyone in Charlotte.
I'm in New Bern 4.5 hours from Charlotte, my Mom and sister live in Charlotte.
Alice and I are probably relocating to the Charlotte area in the fall and I ws wondering about other Speedster knuckleheads in the area. We will be traveling fro Charlotte to Carlisle in May 2016 so maybe Mike and Todd, both of whom will be close to Charlotte will caravan with us.
I see the numerous car clubs in Charlotte too --there definitely will need to be a Speedster replica joining their ranks.

You may want to give Asheville a look. On my top 2 places to retire. There and Charlottesville, VA. Both of these places are gems. Great food, entertainment, culture etc. I will likely end up in Charlottesville because of my VA roots and I already have a small home there. But I love Asheville. And you're just a few miles away from the best roads on the east coast. Just a thought.
I was born in Richmond and love the state and the history of it. I have done a lot of research there. Four members of my family were the first 4 killed in the Nat Turner Rebellion at Jerusalem (now Courtland) VA. I have family wills dated 1731 from there and a paystub from pay received by my SAR Ancestor at Yorktown wintering with Washington. Quite an article.
We looked at Williamsburg, Fredericksburg and Richmond, and they just didn't fit at this time. Charlottesville is a great place but the housing is 1/3 higher than the Charlotte Rea---Matthews specifically so we're pretty much set on that. Asheville is also a great place---we used to have an annual fall gathering there that petered out. I just like Charlotte better.
Our plan was toget between our Daughter's family in Arlington, VA and our son in Wilson, NC and it looks like Charlotte is as well as we are going to be able to do.
There seems to be a lot of car-related stuff going on in Charlotte, although a lot of it revolves around NASCAR. It would certainly shorten your Carlisle drive. I look forward to having y'all quite a bit closer. Maybe we can even get a few folks to gather in the mountains again someday.
I've a nephew living in Mebhan, NC, and I used to get to Charlotte a lot when still at EMC (LOTS of banking data centers there). GREAT town. GREAT restaurants. Relatively cheap cost of living.
Glad to see you're getting closer to the kids. Been there, doing that!
The folks in the CLT tower were a hoot when we used to show up with one of our Hawker 800 jets - Got a lot of flack for flying a British "Mini"!! We always told them we only needed half a parking space!
Gordon--those folks in the same CLT tower worked pretty hard as I was making 4 missed approaches in poor wx 14 years ago--it ended badly in Concord. I don't reccomend such activity! Next plane had better instruments!
Lane--I'm always up for a Smokies trip---we should get back up to the Dragon next fall.
Jack,
I have a son who just moved to Charlotte ( just starting a new job ) and once he gets settled and if I ever finish my Speedster project he will be receiving my TD replica as promised. I am sure his place will be a good stopping point for me to try some get meets down that way.
Looking forward to having you on the east coast Jack. BTW, our daughter just moved to Lake Wylie, South Carolina so we'll be making regular trips through Charlotte.
