I'm getting close to the day I take my checkbook out and put down a deposit on a car , most likely a Beck. Until that day, I'm curious if there are any Speedster guys in the Nashville area who I can talk to about their cars. I see a couple ads on CL for VS cars in the area, but I'm reluctant to contact them just to chat about Type I vs. Type IV, aircooled vs. Subaru engines, optimal suspension setup, etc. Does anyone around middle Tennessee want to meet for coffee and a "show and tell" (I'll show up on a vintage air cooled BMW motorbike)?

Thanks,

John

John---I don't think there are any Speedsters in Nashville.  Getyerself over to Hot Springs, AR and you can drive my Type IV VS and I will share what info I know with you.Becks are just wonderful Speedsters and you couldn't go wrong with one.

Great on your air cooled BMW.  I recently gacve my completely restored R-80 to my son in Charlotte.  I bought it new in 1983 and totaled it in 2009 and spent 2 years on the restoration with a zillion $ worth of NOS parts.  Love a Beemer.

What is the year and model of your air-cooled BMW?  I'm in East Tennessee.  There was a woman who used to post who owned a Spyder but she has not posted in ages.

The woman's name was Vicki Viar (sp?).  She was very active for a while but since she had a Spyder I don't think she would be much help to you.

Nolan Scott and I are in Loudon, TN and both own SAS Cabriolet models.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I have gotten in touch with a couple guys (Peter and GremlinX) around here, we may meet at Puckett's in Leiper's Fork, TN one of these weekends.  It would be great to meet the Knoxville/Loudon guys too (beautiful roads nearby!), when my garage is done I hope to have a car to put in it!

Currently my air-cooled German boxers are a 1972 R75/5 and a 1975 R90/6. slash5_beautyShotslash6_beautyShot
