Jim's brother Linus "Nobody Wants to Play With Me" Sartwell brought the "Rare Hare" out of retirement this year. It's a trip. I think it's got Rabbit, Golf, Corrado (sp?), GTI and several other cars' bodywork all cobbled together and Kleekoed in place over a Beetle chassis, and Linus is bound and determined to run it down the strip for a 25th year of racing.
He's going to get new windows, sheet metal for the interior and paint. Jim did his transmission last week. Linus does his own engine and mechanical stuff in his garage at home.
He's a great guy and a heck of a wrench. If he'd let me, I'd like to race this car myself -- but I probably won't ask.
(I wanted to stick this up here as another example of what an old Bug can be used for. I found it very funny that he'd decided to stick the engine in the back all those years ago.)
