Not sure how they would get an advertised 240 hp from a 2276. CB advertises theirs at 180. It the engine was turbo'ed, you'd think they would mention it.
... but wait! It's got "aluminum heads"!
Yeah, there ain't no turbo there. You can get 240hp out of a naturally aspirated 2276 though, Jim; the combo would have to be built so it went to 7500 or so with power, but then it wouldn't be the docile, torquey watchwinder that we'd expect to be in it, and you'd spend almost as much time maintaining it as driving the thing, and to get the most out of it the transaxle would need close 3rd and 4th gears, and it wouldn't be much of a highway car any more because of those close gears....
And yeah, Stan, it must be trick!
Exactly right, Al. It's not that it can't be done, but, if the advertised HP figure was correct, you would expect LOTS of details explaining how it was achieved, and it would likely remove it from the daily driver category.
Kinda looks like a super wide-body with some fancy stitching and extra bling here and there. Did any of you watch the videos with the listing?

Exactly!
The engine compartment does look nice, but 240 hp is from dreamland. The skinny exhaust tips are a tell-tale sign this rig isn't pushing anything close to that figure. I'd estimate somewhere between 140 and 160 hp.
Very nice car.
That is very interesting. The guy apparently got his hands on a Vintage Super Widebody body and then put CMC guages in along with his own frame.
I also noticed that if you drop several zeros and a one from the VIN # you have 112611321, which Samba indicates is a 71 VW. Coincidence? Would be nice to see some pictures of the underside.
Ron;
Is there calculation or a general rule, in the diameter and length of exhaust tip / hp? And what effect if any is there on "engine note"?
240 hp? Maybe, if it was a 2.7 to 2.9 liter twin-plug type 4. But, it's NOT!

If ultimate HP (not torque) is the goal, the general rule is you need around 2.2 CFM/HP. A straight section of pipe will flow around 115 CFM/in^2 so a 240 HP engine would likely have a single 2.5" exhaust or dual 1 7/8" exhaust after the header.
Pipe length determines which RPMs the exhaust helps or hinders engine output.
Longer pipes also produce lower notes. Pipe diameter can change how the exhaust sounds, but it doesn't really change the frequency of the note/resonance. Larger volume mufflers are better at reducing sound levels.
It's difficult to tell, but it looks to me like this car has a Tri-Mil Euro 2-tip "hotdog" muffler (or the cheaper Empi version) which is ok to around 100 HP. Above that, it's a hinderance and should have a 4-1 header instead. There's no way you'd get 240 HP out of a hotdog muffler. Maybe they were using one of those phone apps to estimate HP and didn't enter the correct vehicle weight.
.....or maybe he thought, "240 sounds like a good number....I'll go with that".
