I've been looking at steering wheel options for a while now and after pretty much being asked to pay about $1000 for a repop from the US, (postage and duties kill me), I'm considering making my own.

I have the tools and also found a local MG guy who built his own who's prepared to give me a hand, but I have the skills, time is getting better, so I'll have some of that, I was just wondering if anyone has tried it before?

Central rod with be 10mm steel bar stock, 3mm laser cut section that will be welded on and then built up with rhodesian teak with rivets.

yes I know I have a lot of projects going and yes they all are still going, including my faux 4 cam, my hard top, my luggage rack and the fitment of my 912 gauges.......lol.

wow, I'm digging that. It doesn't seem to be that hard even with basic-ish skills. lol.

I'll post the link of where my MG buddy sent me. I got a bag full of rhodesian teak planks which are perfect, I'm just gonna have to figure out the rivets.

The main reason that I thought this was doable, was because when I bent my 10mm rod for my parcel shelf, I was surprised how easy it was.

Nice link.
