Jeff,

That is a difficult question to answer.  The word "like" is not the car that is always the easiest to live with.  Its kinda like a few of the girls I dated in my early twenties.  I liked them a lot in fact one was a smoking hot bikini model but she was a  crazy biotch (most of the super hot ones are, right). That's not the girl I could live with and call my wife and mother of my kids.

That said, it really depends on where you live and how you use your car.  I upgraded to a Intermeccanica D with cushy Roadster seats and a H20 engine.  Some would call it the "Cadillac 356" like Rich said about his 911 but its more of a 356 GT car that falls in between a Speedster  and a Cabriolet.

356 is more Fun IMHO but in most cases does not perform like a mid 80's 911.  So where do you live and what are you using the car for?  Sunday cruises and car shows, after work 30 minute vacations, or more of a regular use car?

I was in a bar one time with a friend and a girl walked by and he said "she's a 5."  Then another girl walked by and he said "she's a 5."

I asked him why they were both 5's and he said "they're all 5's. The hotter they are, the crazier they are and it all balances out."

I have an 86 911 in immaculate condition both I'm and out including the motor . Two and a half years ago I paid 29,000 and it has gone up about 30% . It took me a year to find low maintenance 911. I have had no issues with car. These cars are not as expensive to maintain as one thinks. If u but a car with lots of miles u will pay more in maintenance . My car was bought at 63,000 miles . I guess I'm lucky .
Speedster and 911 are two different purpose cars. 911 Ismade to drive and drive fast. It's a tight but hard car to drive. I drive mine a lot very reliable . I want a speedster for the cruise and since I have a hi passion for the vintage classic 356s , I want to personalize it. There are many times when  driving my 911 I wish I had the speedster instead .its a stress relieve soothing drive and I'm at peace in the speedster . I want speedster cuz I have the people to help build necessary to customize it just like original. The issue with the speedster is it's not a good investment , the 911 is. I don't see it that way with the speedster it's more about joy and being happy . I regretted selling my speedster in 2008 i get bent out of shape thinkin about it.

Jeff - I was member of PCA & POC for 25+ years with 7 different P-cars (356 through 911). Also owned many other sports, luxury, and high-end cars (like many of the other members/friends on this site).

Long story short, my replica Speedster is the most fun car I've ever owned. Don't get me wrong, I had lots of fun with those P-cars. But I don't miss driving those as much as I miss driving my VS Speedster (totaled in collision and being replaced by new build)!

As with anything else, its a personal preference.

Your mileage may vary!
