Anyone in the San Clemente, California area???

Hey guys,
I need some help. I am considering buying a red '01 Vintage in San Clemente, California. Problem is I am on the other side of the country in North Carolina. I was hoping someone would be willing to check the car out for me, test-drive, inspect, and let me know if it's worth the money or not. It's red on tan, 1740? engine with large single carb, luggage rack, radio, 4000 miles, for $17,500. I also found a stock ivory '03 which I thik is in Pleasanton, but not positive.
Can anyone help?

There are companies/web sites that offer full technical evaluation of vehicles, including test drives! With some offering 3month/1000 mile warranties if you buy the vehicle. Something to consider, if you don't get anyone in the area.

I would suggest biting the bullet and looking at it in person. You might not be happy with someone else's evaluation. I've looked at several Speedsters on ebay, and seen in person what I would have been terribly disappointed with. But again that's Ebay! Someone's 10 might be a 6 in person...

Oh well. I wanted the car checked out, and Jim was kind enough to offer. I asked the owner about the last time it went in for maintenance, and he said, "If you're so suspicious, maybe you should just buy one you can see yourself." What the heck?! Just asking a harmless question. Anyway, he talked himself out of a sale.
