I was just wondering if anyone in the Los Angeles area knew of this car (or perhaps the owner is a member?). The photos are not that great; compared to what I have seen from members of SOC post.

That said, it definitely peeked my curiosity.

From my limited knowledge, it appears to be a VS that's a few years old, given the mileage and the door panels (although maybe you can still order the single pocket door panels?). The paint looks good in some photos, but the photos don't do it justice in others. And the boot is missing for the parking brake.

Your thoughts and comments are more than welcome. Thank you in advance.

-Kevin

Doesn't look to be a bad car. The ad states the car was built by Vintage Speedsters so you are correct in thinking it is. The engine, according to the ad, is a 1900 cc so it's got just enough to make it more fun than a 1600. I don't think the parking brake boot is missing, I think the owner took it off. There isn't a boot on the shifter either and the parking brake looks to have been painted. I think he's going for a "look" by removing it. You could always just get a new one from Kirk.

It might be worth having one of our SoCal SOCers go check it out for you. Contact the seller via email and make an offer if it looks good. You can't go wrong with black but it does require upkeep, no one likes a dirty Speedster.

-built in 2005 from Vintage as a turn-key,

-2nd owner; purchased from his neighbor who had the car at their home in Santa Barbara,

-current owner removed shifter and e-brake boots (for the look)

-has the passenger side mirror, but never had it installed,

-currently very dusty as it sits in his warehouse,

-everything looks as "new" condition except tonneau cover.

He wants $26K offer $23K or $22K and see where it ends up. Doesn't look like a bad car.

Did he say who did the engine work? Or was it ordered as a 1915cc instead of the standard 1600cc?

He's got a nice warehouse. There's an early 911, an Alfa Romeo, a 356 Coupe, a fiat, another Speedster body all the way in the back, and an early BMW. There's also a photoshoot going on in the very back with topless model.

Okay, okay she wasn't topless but there is a photoshoot going on back there.

Beware if it has been sitting! (I am living it right now with an IM,  6kmiles, 13 years old, and almost everything needs to be redone. I have had it 7 months and still am working on the damn thing.) With this car - look for rusted connections on the brake lines and fluid bleed nipples, fuel lines and connections, pull off a plug wire and see it is rusted to the plug - check to see if you can adjust the carburetors (crapola gas with ethonol will goo it up when not being used - heck, just plan on rebuilding the carbs) , check compression (rings can dry out), 10 year old tires (cracks in the side walls), alignment (hitting speed bumps, curbs) , look at the cvs to see if they are weeping grease along with the ball joints up front, etc, etc, etc....
If it has been sitting 10 years it could be a deal or it could be a real pain in the ass.
It is a pretty car, good price, so don't let me keep anyone from checking it out. But proceed with eyes wide open. Voice of experience (or stupidity) here.

Marty -
I got it because of - Price and Henry's endorsement via his website.

In the end I will have this car - Well Sorted - ,and I hope to put a subie in it.

Labor - free,
Frustration - free,
but the money side of things,   I will still come out and end up with a killer car.  :-).

I simply had not planed on a car restoration, but I have shifted my head on it and am enjoying  bringing it back around.  Live and learn and learn, and learn, ...
