I hate it when people use the original IM photos to advertise.  Looks to have only 2 current dimly lit photos.  And why are there curtain side windows?  I thought all recent speedy IMs have roll up windows.  Is this an old car?  Is priced pretty well.  This car was certainly stunning when new.  Love the interior.

That car is almost identical to mine.  2.0 SOHC 2 valve/cylinder VW/Audi.  It has to be at least 4 years old.  Henry switched over to Suby power the last few years.  Or maybe he had a few left over VW/Audi crate engines.  Only differences are I have hard top and 22,000 more miles.  I do like the Ivory color.  I don't know why people don't list the build date.  It's going to be the first question you ask.  And yes that car will eat CV boots just like mine due to those severe axle angles.  I really think the off road boots will be the solution.  I sent away for a VW 411/412 (type 4) shop manual.  Same rear as on my car.  I'm going to put the off road boots on my car.  We'll see.  The axle angle is not the problem.  These axles can easily tolerate the acute angle.  The angle for some reason causes premature wear of the boots.  But regardless of the boot problem...that's a sweet car.  It's still a keeper.

I have heard of some people insisting on having Non Roll up windows on their speedster in their quest to have an original looking car ... so I would assume IM has, with arm twisted, built those for the purist

Why suffer with those if you don't have to is my question, unless of course you live where you can sing that song: "it never rains in California"

No turbo.  Exactly like my car.  That car has about 125hp.  My car has 260 hydrocam and reflashed ECU and pushing about 145hp.  But it is amazing how similar that car is to mine.  Ad says the car has traction control.  That's ridiculous.  But it does have keyless remote and heated seats that my car does not have.  I've also got a CSP shifter, Retrosound, kick a$$ exhaust, larger front brakes, 356 C wheels, etc.  For you Cali guys, that car is exhaust legal in 50 states.  It has CAT and 2 XL magnaflow mufflers in series.  Nice car, but I'm a bit prejudice.

Wolfgang, I believe the use of the 914 or 911 suspension moves the wheels forward a bit.  Bob, was more knowledgeable so he put his order in for a modified wheel fender location and IM built it for him.  The standard build does not feature this mod so I think some options are only available to those who already aware about them and of course when you request them the price goes up

Well that can happen to anyone, online sales being worse.  I looked at your site Moto, and you did a nice job sorting out that car,  the Retrosound Blaupunkt set up is nice.  How is that done?  I have a Retrosound but the screen on your set up is awesome. Also I like the horn button is that just a C series ring ?  Ray

Well, thanks guys.

Yes it is a cheap Empi firewall kit, but under it I have sound deadening. I really think the deadening makes a difference. I also used home depot plumbing chrome rings to trim the holes in the firewall.

The retro sound radio is cool, but I really thought that digital read out looked cheap. So after downloading Blaupunkt screens and trying to replicate one with plastic, etc... I simply went to ebay and found a  real screen face and frame  (costly  -$150) and modified them to fit.  Company name is Retro Blau. Funky guy, but he has the parts.

And horn. Yep simply a small replacement from Amazon (~ $20).

I also made a horn ring held on by magnets. (Michaels dream catcher ring ($5)

The water cooled IM, like mine, sold very fast.  No longer listed on site.  If it sold anywhere close to the $68k asking price that's amazing.  I guess when you consider a new one like that is $80k+, I guess that's not so crazy, even with leaky CV boots.  Also not having to go through the special construction registration process is a real plus.  If I ever decide to do that IM speedy outlaw build I should have a good down payment.

I think the 2006 with 9500 miles on my original post is gorgeous.  Probably in the right price point.

Ray if I build an IM it will be a speedy.  My conv D hard top will not fit.  But my hard tonneau will fit a speedy so I would keep that and repaint it.

I really do like the hard top.  Henry told me that the speedy hard top role up windows are different than the soft top role up windows.  So if you did a speedy hard top you would have to go with curtains for the soft top.  Or you could delete the soft top.  I've thought about doing the hard top with the soft top delete.  Obviously I have the hard tonneau when the hard top is off.  Hmm.
