Vw beetle gas tank hits everywhere on the underside. I don't recall having this issue with the other SB's I did.. if i don't find another SB owner I am going to have to don my best wife beater Tee Shirt and beat the crap out of the bottom of the tank until they do a Restraining Order on me ;-)

If you do decide to attack it, make sure you film and post the activity.
I have heard of this happening before with SB. Seemed to be Friday fiberglass layup.
Alan, I had to raise the tank in my CMC. I used push on edge trim with the rubber bulb the side (toward the bottom of the tank). Because the tank flange is thin I put an 1/8" thick aluminum bar on the bottom for the edge trim to grip. I used spacers under the clamps.
I'm talking 3/4" to 1" , I'll look at this tomorrow and figure a plan of attack, either re-hammer the tank or cut and re-glass that fiberglass
Well, there is a separate mold for the tank's support panel, and then that is glassed to the underside of the body to form the "frunk". My guess is that there are three or four separate pieces under there, all glassed together into the final form (based on seeing where the different mats are joined together when working on the car). That would certainly give enough opportunity to screw up the position of the tank support on your current build. Is "Street Beast" still around to complain to? Might make for an interesting phone call - or maybe not.....
Street Beasts went out in in a similar fashion aka sh*t storm as their earlier named CMC company. I' ll either " cut n paste" or bang the drum and loose a gallon or so capacity
Now that's an interesting solution, John!
Its not the prettiest in the world , but it works, may cover it in carpet later on.
I ended up turning the tank 180 and sang " If I Had A Hammer I'd Hammer In The Morn'n" I was able to reform the tank bottom to fit & with a 2 of coats of bed liner the underside it was done.
