Anyone using Westach gauges?

I'm thinking of gauges for my IM rebuild. Anyone have Westach gauges installed in their speedster? http://www.westach.com/
I'm looking at oil temperature, oil pressure, and cylinder temperature.

Hi Ron---Westach is the brand that Jake Raby recommended for my Type IV install. I got CHT and Oil Temp gauges from them. Jake says that the installation looks and works great.

Jack, I noticed the CHT wire is only four feet long. Did you order longer wire when you bought the gauge?

Ron - I think that short wire should plug into special "thermocouple extension wire" that is maybe ten or twelve feet long to get the message to your dashboard. DO NOT cut the extension wire short, it is calibrated to that length to be used on your gauge. It's all about small changes in electrical resistance at temperature.

Westach CHT gauges are cool- and not temperature compensated.

Ron---I don't know about the length of the wire---Jake Raby installed these gauges when he installed the engine. Give Westach a call or email them---I found them great to work with when I ordered mine.

I plan on calling them when I get my engine back together.

Thermocouple-type analog CHT gauges are effected by ambient temperature (the gauges themselves), unless they are "temperature compensated".

Westach gauges are not- but I'm still debating using them, because they look so retro-cool.

I believe that the Westach gauges I have are correct at 76 degrees f
so if the ambient temprature is 40, the gauge is reading 36 degrees high and 36 should be deducted from the reading to obtain the correct temprature of what is being measured (CHT in my case).

Are there other accurate gauges that don't need temperature adjustments?

Westach are great, I have them in all my cars including the Pinzgauer.

Both analog gauges, nice look- not as nice looking as the Westach, but more usable.

I'm running Westech dual CHT, dual EGT, and combined Oil pressure/temp. No complaints.

I've also got my Innovate log chain hooked up to CHT & EGT and am planning to use this digital information to replace all my analog ancilary gauges at some point (as my ECU is also hooked up to the chain providing a wealth of other information) with a colour OLED display discretely mounted in the combo gauge in place of the temp gauge.

Stan, the more I look at those Micro 1000 gauges the more I like them.
Is the VW spark plug 14 mm in diameter?
