I have a 2001 IM roadster and I love most everything about the car.

The one thing that bugs me is the inability to use a tonneau cover that lies flat - the top's bow system does not fold flat down so any cover would have an ugly rise at the back.

So I wondered if anyone might have also been bugged by this and found a way to resolve the issue maybe by some modification to the bow attachments to the car?

I know it's a kind of paltry thing. It comes from my memories of driving around on cold days top down, tonneau on, and the heater full blast making a nice warm cave where warmth for my right side helped a bunch toward feeling warmer than it really was outside. I'd like to do that some more and maybe should have bought a speedster instead so I could.

I did ask Henry about it last year and he sent a link to the people who do IM upholstery or tops.

I've got a few other projects but one of these days I'm gonna' try to get the top bow system stripped down so I can try to figure out if it can be altered somehow to fold completely below the rim or closr enough to allow a reasonably tight and low fitting tonneau cover.

I wouldn't want to screw up this top's watertightness though. It rains in Washington (duh) and no water comes into my car when the top is up.It's the tightest sportscar top I've ever had occasion to use.

I just thought it was worth asking if anyone had tried something before me.

The whole tonneau idea might not suit me anymore, or suit me up here. I'm a California native and was a whole lot younger but that won't keep me from trying something.
