I read on the 356 Registry site about the car Apal built which loosely resembled an Abarth Carrera. The author of the post said that thes cars were built to a high standard.I own an Apal Speedster replica and am certainly impressed by the build quality.Does anyone know whether these cars (the Speedster replica)were built in the "factory"? Mine has a chassis plate with a build number.
Any info would be welcome,

Phillip

From the early 80's until the mid 90's, Apal was built in Belgium. The company built a few different replicas, mostly based on VW platforms. They built about 700 Speedsters in Belgium. In the mid-90's, the company folded and was later sold to a German company that built some additional cars. The output of the German company was only a small % of the Belgium company, so yours was likely built there.
