Here are pics of one way to install an Aperta windscreen on a VS.

It involves modifying the brackets that come with the kit. A dremel canWindscreen 1Windscreen 2Windscreen 3windscreen hingewindscreen and tonneauwindscreen and tonneau 2windscreen front be used to cut the brackets.

There are probably other ways to do this, maybe making the screen part of the roof mechanism etc.

There is a decrease in noise and turbulence, but not as much as I expected. I don't have a radio in the car. I'm guessing a 50% reduction.

I have a pretty loud sidewinder exhaust that dumps behind the passenger as well. I'm looking to have it plumbed to a center rear exhaust, and that might reduce some noise as well.

Stan told me that he runs his with the windows up and the screen in place on his IM and it makes a big difference. Being a VS, to get a similar effect I'd have to put the drop in side windows in, and I haven't done that.

Your "moderate improvement" does not surprise me at all. The windscreen is only half of the equation. You've got to get something for the sides as well.

This is where Troy's "Cruzin' Windows" would make an enormous difference. Something full-sized in hard acrylic like Lane had in his red car would work even better.

Bob, most of your "exhaust noise" is coming from those big Dells. A lot of people expect a noise drop with a muffler change, but the lion's share actually comes from the intake.

Speaking of Cruzin Windows, Jack, the fellow that owned and restored Dean Jeffries’ Carrera posted this pic of a custom Karman Coupe from Amelia Island. Among the many nice touches was this side window carrier.

Also had a Polo motor in it.
eta: Someone else found a link. Pretty interesting read.

@dlearl476 nice 944. How are the screens installed in the 944. Are they foldable/collapse when not in use ?

It’s a 968, but the interiors are the same ‘86<. (And they use the same screen)

There are two L-shaped bars on each end that fit into holes in the rear shelf area and elastic straps and bars that go against the trunk access panels.  It folds just like the Aperta one, it just has factory mounts. Sorry I don’t have a better picture. it does fold flat. And it talks all of 5 minutes to put it in or remove it.

Mine is a little different than this one. Rather than the “W” shaped support, it has two straight ones that fit into the corners of the cargo shelf.

See that plug? The windschott comes with one with a hole in the middle that the L-shaped bar goes in.
