Hello,
I have a CMC speedster that I recently purchased and the drivers side door seems to be out of alignment and is hitting the bottom of the door sill making it difficult to open and close. Can I loosen the retaining allen bolts and jack the door up while open and then retighten the allen bolts. I'm not sure there is any play in the hinges when loose so I want to save myself some time and effort if this won't work.
Thanks,
Scott

How are your gaps around the doors? On the CMC's the door section of the hinges have allen bolts that go through the fiberglass skin of the door and into steel plates that are threaded. When the car was built the holes in the fiberglass should have been oversized, allowing adjustment. The inner mounts are screwed to threaded inserts into a steel frame and do not allow for any adjustments other then shimming the door outward. If you feel the rear of the door needs to be lifted I suggest you open the door, mark the hinge location with a wax pencil and then just barely loosen the allen bolts for adjustment. Often I would loosen two of the three and then just "relax" the third one when I was read to adjust the door. The wax pencil marks will give you a baseline you can go back to if needed. Trust me....once you get that door moving it can get frustrating trying to figure out which way to go.
