Hello all,

I am new here, but have been looking at Mr. Becks spyders (at first) then speedsters since I was about 10 years old. I am seriously considering selling my Land Rover to get one. I have been working in our Baltimore office since January, and am considering a move here from Charlotte, NC. Was just looking at housing and realized I am going to be hard pressed to find anything with a garage close in. Are there any owners out there that do not have there cars garaged?

Hmmm, stay in Charlotte where I can garage a speedster or move to Baltimore further advancing my career so that one day down the road I may be able to own a speedster when the timing is right. Ive never been one for patience. 20 years has been long enough!

Opportunities for career advancement are hard to count on. Make the move, keep the Rover (what year/model?) and keep an eye on this site (and other car sites) for a used Speedster that fits your budget/situation (outside parking). Rover for inclement weather, and Speedster for recreation. If you're diligent about keeping an eye out, a decent Speedster within your budget will eventually surface (check Darren S add in this site's classifieds - that's exactly what I'm talking about).

When your career affords you the opportunity to buy housing with garage space, then upgrade to a newer/nicer Speedster (and a Mack Daddy Rover to boot!).

Good Luck!
Here's the solution:

Car Condos
"Signaling that the Silicon Valley economy is revving up, three car connoisseurs are building condominiums exclusively for cars.
Yes, for cars - not people.
Club Auto Sport, now under development in San Jose, will offer up to 70 condos for cars, as well as a concierge and club room where "car guys" can hang out, watch races and talk about . . . cars."

My IM didn't for the first 4 or 5 years I had it. I kept it under an all weather cover all the time regardless of the season. Now its under one of those portable tent garages that I got from our local Crappy Tire store for about $350. If you ahve the space and don't mind the looks I'd recommend that over an all weather cover. There's nothing to chaff the paint and you can stick a heater in there and work on the car in the winter or rain.
Those of us who are less fortunate have developed life-altering friendships with our mechanics. My car, right now, is in HIS garage. Can't beat it with a stick. I work there for free, I fix other people's stuff -- and HE works on my car fer nuthin'!
BTW -- logged another 260 miles today. Broken throttle cable was the only casualty. Fixed and back on the road in five minutes.
Went to Ocean City, Md., for a softshell crab sandwich. Found out it was Bike Week. Had a ball with the Trike guys and gals, did a bit of go-karting and had a quesidilla and a Guinness instead of a crab sammich, turned around and came home.
My back is KILLING me.
great commentary... thank you to everyone. I gather that it really comes back to "where there's a will, there's a way". I have since taken the position in Baltimore. Not to happy about the idea of winter (grew up in Florida), but Jim made a very good point. Jim, I am guessing you are a father... my father had the same advice. Good looking Rover, My brother has a '91 LWB County. He also has a '57 356A Coupe. The two keep him pretty busy.

One positive about the Baltimore move... I am that much closer to Carlisle.
