I’m impressed. You found an antique Hella (I think) rear fog light. That’s like the third one I have ever seen on a VW. Those are amazing car photos.

You are going to fit in just fine here.
Welcome, and great work on that Bug.
Welcome 356 John! as the guys have already said, you are no newby with that lineup of beautiful cars under your belt. As you probably know it's always a bit of a challenge in Ontario finding a Speedster or building one. The bigger the budget the easier it is to do here. The next challenge will be figuring out what you want your car to look like when completed. Whatever you do it will be well recieved here and the techical support is always fantastic! I live in London Ontario and here's a shot my car( CMC widebody).

Very nice car.
Curious thou , how did you get it into Canada? I know gov. has restrictions on kit cars.
@Robert M posted:That Auratium green is a very nice subtle color. It has a binate VINTAGE look to it without it looking old. Pair that with an oxblood interior, tan interior, or baseball glove brown leather interior would look nice.
Fixed it. I should have proofread that first. The Auratium green has a VINTAGE look to it.

Yes I get it, there's nothing like the open air driving experience! I've had several through the years and it makes me laugh when you hear people not liking convertibles.
I have your complete body etc right now. What should I be asking for it ?
Thanks for your help.
John
Running car with good paint, top & upholstery and few if any problems maybe $6k. Maybe $7k.

Iam outside of Peterborough on Pidgeon Lake for just over a year. Got the hell out of T O.
Good decision, my brother has a place on the lake in Fenelon Falls that he just retired to and my daughter went to school at Trent just outside of Peterborough. I'm still in west GTA but think of getting the hell out all the time. Probably 5 years left here though.

Hi 356 John, my car was imported as a kit in 1985 and assembled here; we were able to do that a lot easier back in the day. Now to import any completed replica into the country it must be 15 years old or older, with documentation to prove when it was built. I don't know what your budget is , but Intermaccanica in B.C. has a 2017 Canadian spec speedster with about 4000km on it for $62000.00 Canadian (a very nice car).
Iam going to import a body as I have a complete VW chassis and do the necessary work.
With all the restoration that he did he has the skills to put together a speedster or refresh one, Which is very cost effective.
I Hate to belabour the point but the issue I have is the seasonal driving is so short that without a good top and roll up windows or hardtop with roll up windows you won’t drive much hence my first try was to get a coupe but my IM is great.
Or........ You can do what many, many of your fellow Canadians did in the past when they found that the heat in their little VW Beetle wasn't exactly "robust".....
Just be on the lookout for a decent Eberspacher BN2 heater, restore it and install it in the car. Doesn't matter if it's a Speedster, Roadster, 356 coupe or Spyder (with top and windows, of course). It'll give you more than enough heat to make it comfortable in there and extend your driving year a bit longer until the salt appears late Fall and then disappears in, what...... July or so?
Funny guys ! Your speaking with a tough Canucker. Just slip on the long underwear and my favourite toque. Oh ya dont forget my large hot coffee.☃️🇨🇦
Hey 356 John where are you getting your body from, and what's the process for importing it?
Iam not ready yet to order it.
Info I got is you hire a shipper and have it delivered. You will pay your taxes on its value.
Not as difficult as importing a car.
356 John , I didn't know if the supplier of the body had to send paperwork to Canada Customs ahead of time to see if you could even import it or not. Not exactly clear when you go into their website.
That only applies to a whole car. You are only importing parts which is way easier.
I forgot because of a shipping company involved you'll need a broker.
Give one a call and you'll get some answers.

Love the stance on the CMC Californians (that was the name used for their version of the widebody); just like Mr. Nichol's Pearl.
