Anybody used these? I'd like to lower the speedy a couple of inches and I came across these. I have swing axle suspension. I like the fact that these aren't notched but have a bend in them so the height of the plate is consistent front to back which I think maintains the integrity and strength of plate. I have an adjustable beam on the front so that should be an easy change.

The other question would be about shocks. I have coil over and I am concerned that lowering will compress the shocks so much that I will need to go to a shorter shock to maintain ride.

They have a series of YouTube videos on installation and it looks pretty straightforward.

The first question I would ask of other VS owners is; Can you remove the torsion bar end caps/spring plates on a VS or is it captive because the body is in the way?

After that, it would take almost exactly the same time to re-set the spring plates that you have to a new height as it would to install those new jobbies (maybe less) so, why?

They are kinda pretty, though.......

You need longer spring plates when you lower the car otherwise the toe-in gets to be too much. The longer plates gives you stock toe settings. The kink in the spring plate is needed because when you lower the car, the hard suspension stops on the shock tower get in the way. The kink gives you full suspension travel between the stock stops without needing to notch the spring plate which weakens it.

I was going to go Atomwerks route as well cause they are the local guys, but the price and lack of adjustment turned me off.   Kadie Shack has adjustable Empi plates with new bushings for about $115.  My CMC is sitting on FOrd patten wheels 8 X 15 which means that the car is higher in back cause will not clear wheel wells.  THis  is fine on Detroit Iron but so wrong on speedster.  New drums are at machine shop getting ford patten studs installed.  Will post pics once all is done.  WHile all is apart doing brakes, wheel cyls etc.  Does anyone know if there is a supplier of shortened emergency brake cables that will fit a CMC.  Oh and yes I am also in the middle of addressing the issue that is the rat's nest called a wiring harness.  Small wonder so many of these kit car cos came and went.

I checked the Atomwerks web site and watched a 12min video (Well done, no garbled audio. no shadowed or fuzzy visuals) on installing spring plates.

It's a fantastic instructional !!!

Charles Adams takes all the mystery out of it step by step...Even a clutz like me  could do it now!!!

He starts out by displaying the exact tools required. I've got them all thanks to Harbor Freight...all I'm missing is a black 'wife beater' shirt and some decorative arm tattoos.

If it's a swingaxle car there's no problem in removing everything on a VS; I believe if the car is IRS then it might be a different story.
