I saw an older thread but no post about the solution. i have a CMC build., what works to art h the body trim? The little plastic anchors don’t seem to work well in the thicker fiberglass body.
was looking at double sided tape, or?
Appreciate any input.

On my CMC I threw away the plastic side trim that came with it and got very nice side trim from Intermecchaica. Unfortunately, that is no longer possible.
It came with T-headed bolts to attach the trim. I don't know if that is possible with the trim you have.

I've done quite a few side molding installations... the VW white clips are made for going through thin Beetle metal and not out thicker fiberglass but can be used. I use a drop of Gel Super Glue on a toothpick and move that around the drilled hole then insert the clip. BTW the correct drill bit size is important & testing for a snug fit on scrap material is recommended.
If it were me, I think I’d go with some auto-body quality double sided trim/emblem tape to avoid drilling holes in the body. 3M or SEM or some such.
Sounds like you are using the polished aluminum VW trim pieces. I don't think double sided tape would work on them since there is not much surface area. DrClock's solution would work - especially if you have the holes for the VW trim already drilled.
The original CMC belt trim was chromed plastic universal side ding guard strips with sticky tape on back - folks could buy it anywhere (JC Whitney) for like $20. Yup - crap.

Yes they were from Intermeccanica.
3M automotive two sided tape and careful use of an xacto knife. It worked on my 993 as well and was still solid after eight years.
The side trim Alli is talking about is hollow, as in U-shaped. Not much surface area to stick sticky tape to as has been mentioned.
