Busting a hump on the spyder over the next few days. We had done some alterations on the rear suspension that involved welding. Need to touch up the DeDion tube. Also the engine is due for its first valve adjustment (actually a little overdue). Next one is 15,000 miles later. Lots of cleaning and polishing - don't want it to look shabby next to all your awesome cars!

One thing though...I'm a little concerned for Gerd...

Oh NUTZ!!!! Now I'm completely stressed - TAXES - GAHHHH!!!! To make matters even worse, Steve is adamant that I get rid of the Christmas tree before I go.

I don't see what the big deal is, I put it in the front yard and the stand filled with water. It's still mostly green. Sometimes Steve is really picky.

As I understand it, this Friday morning, 4/20/07 at around 8:30 a.m. several Speedster and Spyder replicas will begin to arrive at the Topanga Ranch Motel parking lot (just northwest of the intersection of Topanga Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway). Once the drivers, coming from several different directions, assemble at The TRM we will be driving northward through Malibu on PCH at about 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. and eventually join the 101 (Ventura) Freeway at Las Posas Road in Camarillo. The final destination of this caravan is Paso Robles, CA. I'm told we'll be stopping in Pismo Beach for a bladder break, stretching and & lunch.

Check the week-end weather at > http://www.weather.com < zip code for Paso is 93446

You're right about the forecasters Vince. Last year Ann and I paniced because the forecast was for rain starting Thursday at midnight and all day Friday. So we bought a cute blue plastic tarp "car cover" for the spyder and raced out of Santa Rosa Thursday after work.
We froze our asses off somewhere outside King City at midnight under cloudless skies (no heaters in spyders). Shivered ourselves into Paso around 1:00 am, "tarped" the car for the imminent monsoon that was predicted, and burrowed-in under the blankets to weather the storm.
Of course, there never was any rain -- not even a sprinkle -- all weekend.

So much for forecasts. Buuut . . . the three forecasts I'm looking at right now are becomming more encouraging. None of them show much threat of rain in Paso for all 3 days. However the Friday morning forecast for us guys heading from Northern CA is a little bit iffy still.
Oh GAAAHHH!!! It is snowing on the Siskiyous...I'm leaving tomorrow, they are predicting a couple of inches. Do you guys have ANY idea of how unpleasant that is going to be for me...??? To say nothing of how much fun 260 hp is in a spyder in the snow.... Can you say sphincter clamping event of mortal terror?

You know what? I'm going to put the Christmas tree in the front yard not the side. I wonder what STeve will say when he comes home tonight...

Kurt -

I think the best bet for your group is to meet us at the Starbucks in South Bay (Artesia & Hawthorne) about a mile west of the 405 Fwy off the Artesia exit. We expect 4 or 5 SOC'ers to be at this location. It is on the left hand side of Artesia/Hawthorne (south-west corner).

Since you're going to be on the road at 06:00am, you could easily get to this location in plenty of time to grab a coffee and pastry for the road! The plan is to leave that location no later than 08:15am to make the 09:00 rendevous in Malibu at the Topanga Ranch Motel (Topanga Canyon & PCH). There should be a group of 4 or 5 more SOC'ers at this location. The plan is to leave Malibu no later than 09:30.

This group will then take Los Posas to get on the 101 (Oxnard/Camarillo). I guesstimate we should be at the 101/Los Posas junction around 10:00-10:15 am. Next stop would be Pismo Beach/Arroyo Grande for lunch.

Looking forward to hooking up with our SOC friends this Friday (morning).
