This is a feeler ad... My wife and I are discussing selling our beloved CMC. We spend most of our summer using our other VW's, camping every weekend in the Westy, cruising in our bugs, etc. If the right offer comes along, we could be convinced to sell....

I have to resign my storage lease by April 15. If I get a serious offer before then, I will sell. If not, I resign my storage and keep the car!

Details:

It has about 2000KM on it. I built it from a kit I hauled out of Middletown NY.I have full documentation and build images on this car. It is a typical CMC build with attention to detail. Many parts (grills, lights, etc) are real Porsche parts from Stoddards instead of the CMC stuff. All gauges are VDO.

I built this car on a swingaxle / king and linkpin frame to maintain the proper look and run wide fives.

It is running a strong detailed 1600DP with dual 35mm PDSIT's and a new pertronix SVDA distributor. It runs strong and this season I will rejet the carbs for better performance (the jets just came in from Aircooled.net).

The tranny is a stock swingaxle, detailed and cleaned. Shifts beautifully.

Brakes are all new from the master cylinder through to the springs in the drums.

Wheels are chrome Mangels with Porsche hubcaps. Tires are Yokohama performance tires with 100% tread.

Suspension and shocks all new. Front beam has adjusters and drop spindles. Rear is dropped considerably.

Integrated mounts built into custom inner bumper mounts for a towbar. Wiring also provided so car can be towed and lights function as a trailer.

Recent upgrades include vinyl covering on dash, Speedster scripts, 1600 Super scripts, and chrome side mouldings (not shown in pictures yet).

Frame and floors custom shortened in California. Fixed up, sandblasted, POR15 & Blackcoated by me

SONY CD player and speakers

The list goes on and on and on. Original build pictures here:

I have invested thousands. The car is nearly impeccable and has won multiple awards around Ontario including best in class, best in show, etc.

The threads on bringing speedsters into Canada pop up every other week on this site. It is not easy. It means they demand a premium here. I have seen older builds listed and selling in the $16K - $20K range. I have an appraisal for $17K prior to all the finishing details.

I really don't think I'd sell for less than $15K cash. I think in the local market that represents a deal (though I realize fully the same car would sell for less in the US).

This car is registered as a VW Beetle and carries a clean Ontario ownership in my name.

Interested parties please contact me at bschmidt@repco.com or on my cell at 905-706-0729. I am advertising only here now, hoping there is an enthusiast looking for a replica. Willing to talk, send more pictures, show the car to anyone seriously interested.

Hello,

It is still for sale.

I am in Oshawa, Ontario, just east of Toronto.

There are lots of pictures of the build on the website referenced above. If you need more, I've got them.

Let's continue this by email. Send me a note at bschmidt@repco.com (replace the AT with a @) and we can go from there.

Thanks.
