The Monterey Historic Races feature Porsche this year. This event is a part of 10 days of classic cars events that has to be seen to be believed. The week before the race weekend the town of Carmel has daily car shows on the street featuring the rarest and most beautiful cars in the world. The Pre-Historic races are inexpensive to see and not massively crowded. The Historics are not cheap and are crowded, but this year I am going because of the Porsche featured Marque. I know a few of the Spyder guys are going and I hope some SOC folks come. It is a spectacular show.

Sr. Guapo,

I say you're IN! But I don't have any say, so ...

I talked to my dad last night, and warned him to be on the look out for Speedster-and-Spyder guys-and-gals.

Apparently they're hyping Porsche's new SUV, or whatever.

There are worse places to be than Monterey in August!! And being behind the wheel of a Porsche is never a bad thing -- even if it is for two months, in winter, north of the Arctic circle, in Finland. Ask my dad about it ...

Good luck on the apprenticeship!
Mickey, I can't help but notice that the other coast guys (your coast) seem to feel right at home with a wrench in one hand, covered in oil and grease and other icky stuff, while the guys from the right coast (my coast) feel more comfortable with a steering wheel in their hands and their foot on the throttle...
I don't know, I could be wrong, but certinally not about what coast to live on..
WOW VINCE U SURE KNOW HOW TO PISS PEOPLE OFF. AND I THOUGHT U JUST DID IT TO ME.
SO LETS RECAP, YOU GO THE SOUTHEAST AND THEY WILL BE WAITING THERE TO LYNCH U.
YOU GO TO THE NORTH EAST AND THEY WILL BE WAITING TO DUMP YOUR ASS IN A BARREL, FILL IT WITH CONCRETE AND BURY IT AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE.
YOU GO TO CANADA AND THEY WILL DRAG YOU TO AN ICE SPOT AND BEAT YOUR ASS LIKE U WERE A BABY SEAL.

U R JUST GONNA HAVE TO HANG ON THE WEST COAST WITH ME :)
Re PreHistorics - looks like we'll have a small Spyder group heading down from the SF Bay area on SUNday, 8/9 - Ralph C, Atticusman, and I will caravan - will try to scare up a couple more!...Barry/AKA Goofycat may be there also - I may go there on Saturday as well...
.
Mary and I will also participate in the Pacific Grove Concours/Rally on Friday 8/14

Warren, the park is a Monterey County Park. They have a website. The weekend of the Pre-Historic Races the County is in charge of the Campground. On I think Thurs. before the Historic Races the Mazda Raceway folks take over. Call 831-755-4889 for Monterey Parks and 800-327-7322 or 831-242-8200 for the Mazda Raceway folks. Last I checked there was availability for the Pr5e-Historics and overflow for the Historics. I hope to see you there!
Just back from Sunday Pre-Historics - drove up with Spyder People Ralph C and Atticusman/Tien, and met up with Wil, Jim & Ginny....also saw Barry/Kinau, and Karl D (Spyder people) on Saturday (I'm only 70 miles from Laguna Seca so I commuted both days) - great time - nice weather, and a great assortment of cars -with lots of Speedsters, a couple Spyders and 904's, and many other interesting Porsches. The Pre-Historics allow better photo access than the actual Historic Races - so I was able to take a 'few' pictures - still editing them - will post a link in a day or two.....This was a great weekend - and the 'campers' had a nice arrangement with very comfortable access to the track.
.
we managed to find our way into the 'closed' paddock easily, and just before leaving, gained access to an elevated, shaded viewing area.....would have been nice to spend more time there - DEFinately on my calendar for next year again - hope to see even more Speedster friends there in 2010.
