August Monterey Historic Races

WAS THAT A BLAST OR WHAT?!! Had a great time at the Pre-Historic races at Laguna Seca raceway in Monterey, CA. Had a great time hanging with Will P, Rick B, Rick & Mary J, Barry & Kinau S, Warren & Karen W and the other Spyder guys. We also caught up with Eddie Janis cruising the racetrack.

I'll leave the car photos to the guys that know what they're doing (Rick & Warren) cuz my Malibu Barbie digital camera would not do the cars justice. We got to see the 1939 (Audi) Auto Union Grand Prix take a couple of laps, awesome.

Anyway, here are some pics of our experience at Laguna Seca. We hope that more SOCers make the trek next year.

We had a great time at the Laguna Seca Pre-Historic races. I took over 450 pictures. Haven't reviewed them all, but here are a few of the early Porsches.

Did I see a chrome Pinto?

I'm afraid you did. Reminds of the phrase "you can't polish a turd", which, by the way, the Mythbusters guys proved wrong.

Lane, some "sayings" leave me in stitches..."you can't polish a turd"...that's a good one

That's an old lawyer statement.....I've heard it putting a ribbon on a turd too.

OK, so inquiring minds had to know if Lane was on the up-and-up.

Looks better than the chrome Pinto.

Probably smells better, too.

That puts a new twist on the old saying "...he/she couldn't tell s--t from shinola"!!

The Pinto was actually covered in small square mirrors over the entire exterior and some of the interior - see attached photo.

Pintos were well represented there and the entire event, catered by two taco trucks, provided as was intended, a 180 degree alternative to the Pebble Beach Concours held the next day.
