"Authentic" upholstery

My replica is an 80s vintage CMC with tan vinyl upholstery, door panels, etc. Did the original 1955-1956 356As come with vinyl or leather seats?

Vinyl

Most Cabs came with leather, most Speedsters came with vinyl and leather was a very rarely selected option, and coupes were optioned either way.

Speedster were the low end 356s. Spartan for sure.

This book is very good reference.

Thomas, take a look at "Alante" brand of vinyl . This the closest thing to leather in both appearance and soft texture. ~Alan

I have been a saddlemaker for over 50 years and know a little bit about leather. I have vinyl in my car(s) ... only because I care about durability, ease of care and appearance. Other than that I would use leather :-)
