Anyone have an Auto Transporter recommendation?  I'm letting go of my grand plan for driving my Coupe home.

So far I am leaning towards GlobalAuto ..  http://www.globalautotransportation.com/

They look to have good ratings and they quoted me under $1k for an enclosed transport (North Hollywood to Austin, TX)

Chris---be damned certain that they will not put a vehicle over your so you won't get any oil spills on your car.  Not as importannt as with a Convertable but still you don't want any oil on that new paint.   And don't let them shuttle your car in and out of the hauler---shoot for a point to point run to minimize the chance of scratches.

Speak to Alan Merklin who is in the business of hauling cars and get his advice---he will shoot you straight---a great friend of the SOC folks.

Chris, I have left a msg on the answering machine of Dave Brown, a transporter who has carried my Spyder several times with no glitches. I believe his fees are very reasonable. He usually uses a closed van for transporting vehicles. I will send you his email address and phone number when I get them. The man is very honest and reliable. Or...if you don't wish to wait, call him directly at 541-991-0174; tell him I contacted you instead of waiting for him to contact me.

So Chris, Is your car done? Last time I visited John, I did not see your car. I highly recommend you to spend at least 1 day driving your car around to make sure everything works out well before you ship it back to Texas. These cars need some sorting out before it will run perfect.

Depending when you come to LA, maybe you can round up the So Cal guys to do a shakedown run with you.

Take care,

Eddy

Hi Eddy,

Nope, not done yet.  Just trying to pin down a transport price so I can budget for that.

My car was out getting the interior put in, and is either out now, or soon will be, for glass install.

I definitely plan to come to LA and put some good miles on my car.  John said to plan for Feb 1st, so if that schedule holds, I'll be out to LA for that weekend.  Once I book a flight, I'll definitely reach out to the LA SOC'ers for a run.  I believe I offered up a round at the Rudder Room last time I was in LA.

Looking forward to that trip!

Chris
