Hey,

I'm new to the website and looking to purchase my first speedster replica. There is a company on Ebay, Automotive Legends, that have several listed. Does anyone have experience with this company that they could share? The item number on Ebay is 270187707233. Again, I'm new to this and not looking to spend more than $22k, so any information/suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey,

I'm new to the website and looking to purchase my first speedster replica. There is a company on Ebay, Automotive Legends, that have several listed. Does anyone have experience with this company that they could share? The item number on Ebay is 270187707233. I have seen the Automotive Legends cars. They are Vintage Speedster cars with a few , very few, additions. The biggest addition IMHO is the price tag. If you live in S. California, go see Vintage Speedsters or JPS , they are listed on this forum as vendors. Check the classifieds on here often. There has been a lot of really nice, almost new cars sold in the last year that I have been on the forum. This forum is full of information about replicas. Spend a few days searching and you will learn more than you ever thought was possible about these cars. Good Luck!
Do a search for Automotive Ledgends or AL on this site and you will see how truly awful they are. They trap the unwary to buying from them.

My car was bought in Monroe, LA last June with 700 miiles on it. He bought it from AL in Feb and paid over $31,000 for it. With 700 miles I paid him $24,000 for a brand new car. It is actually a Vintage Speedster and was sold to AL and marked up several thousand and sold to an unsuspecting guy.

Deal directly with VS---period. Or buy like I did---new/ with a few miles on it.

Personally I think Vintage makes the best value out there. A fine looking, good running Speedster replica for really a very low price. The average Harley is more money than what I paid for my ride.

Do spend some time on this site and you will get an education, my friend. I lucked into what I got---I was looking at ebay and found this car there---it was in LA which is close to me so I snapped it up.

Actually sold one of my banjos for the $$. Yep--a pretty good '34 Gibson Mastertone archtop.

Good luck. When you get your Speedie report back here and we will all welcome you to the madness!---Jack
While Automotive Legends are not cheap, and there have been some number of bad things happen to some parties who have bought their Speedster products, not all they offer or do in the business is bad. See in detail at http://automotive-legends.ebizautos.com/detail-1956-collector-porsche_550_coupe-lemans-1420051.html

This is a really fine replica of a 550 with aero top...check it out. I understand these cars are being built for AL by Russ Rodiguez of Fibersteel. Russ is a very fine craftsman in his own right. And the car speaks well for itself...

I have no firsthand knowledge of their Speedster offerings, but this 550 is to kill for. And yes, I understand their asking price to be something like $80k. But, where do you buy a better one for less, so it is pretty hard for me to say with conviction that the price is too high.... and oh by the way I have no vested interest in AL or Fibersteel...
Think of them as a boutique reseller for Speedsters. They rely mostly on uninformed wealthy customers walking by their Malibu showroom, saying "Ooooh, pretty!" and buying the car without a second thought (i.e. Britney Spears). When they put their cars on Ebay they of course omit the fact that they are built by Vintage because everyone would just go straight to the Vintage website and cut out the middleman.

That said, if you want to buy a brand new Speedster with no waiting and have money to burn, they're your source. Just don't expect them to service it (based on customer complaints here).
Jim--Banjos here include:

1926 Gibson Style 1, pot conveted to 1934 dimensions by Arthur Hatfield, Frank Neat 5 string neck, Burlile tone ring, Pot metal strecher band. This banjo will peel wallpaper.

That's cool Jack!! I have a few guitars myself; amongst them a 1938 Gibson ES-150 (first commercially available electric guitar as played by Charlie Christian with Benny Goodman), a 1947 Gibson J-50 and a list of about 21 other ones including 7 tube guitar amps running the gamut from a 1954 Fender Deluxe, through a full 1972 Marshall Super Lead stack (as used by The Who, Free, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zep....and almost any other Rock band worth their salt). I just bought a 1938 Selmer replica to learn the Gypsy jazz stylings of guitarist extraordinaire Django Reinhardt (that alone should be enough to keep me busy for the next 30 years).

As for Harley prices I just checked out the 2007 Sportster Nightster and it's less than 10K at the dealer. I know, I know, true bikers say Sportsters are girls' bikes but...they're new and look cool.
