Took the family to the FREE Miramar Aircraft Museum last weekend. Highly suggested if in San Diego. Real planes from WWII to nearly current. Walk up to them and stick your head in cockpit. Including helocopters, from Hueys to Cobra gunships. The guide described the Hornet as a big engine/gas tank with a pilot thrown in as an afterthought.
Sorta like that V-16 Auto Union. An engine and chassis, with a "piloto" thrown in as an afterthought. Aren't the drivers feet in front of the front axle line?
