Where is the best place to get a set of baby moon hubcaps that fit 15" wheels, stock IM wheels? I also wanted to get a quality set of nipple hubcaps with the P_____ crests, but want them to be high quality.

I know from past experience that the Mid American Porsche crest nipple hubcaps don't fit non-porsche wheels, but at $130 (appx) they were high quality. They don't dent, bend, etc...

Does Mid America or the Samba, or or other VW parts supplier have any high quality nipple crest hubcaps? Anyone out there with past experience on this.

Robert,

Everything that you would ever want to know about EMPI is here:

www2.cal-look.com/nostalgia/risefall.html

It's a three page article on the origin, history, demise, and rebirth. At one point in time it was the formost developer and manufacturer of performance parts for air cooled VWs. Now it's little more than a decal.

Every dealer of bling and shoddy chrome crap out of India and South America counts itelf as an Empi Dealer. CIP1, SO-CAL Imports, any of the advertisers in Hot VWS will carry the nipple-style caps for both four and five lug wheels. They're all junk! The crests are crumby repros with a strange looking horse and no PORSCHE or Stuttgart lettering on them at all.

Buy Alan's caps and (if his crests aren't to your liking) pay money for the genuine crests from one of the Porsche parts suppliers and you'll NEVER look back! Every time that you wax the car, or wash the wheels, you'll just smile like CRAZY!!

:) Like I'm doin' right now lookin' at MY hub caps!

Alan's hub caps are for wide fives. I need a set for the normal 4 lug chrome wheels. I previously bought the nipple style caps from Mid American Motorworks, they were very nice, but don't fit 4 lug 15" wheels. Does anyone sell high quality nipple style hub caps for 15" VW chrome wheels? If so, i could buy the high quality P____ crests from Mid America Motorworks and mount them on the nipple hubcaps.
"Thanks Alan, but I don't have wide five wheels. I'm pretty sure that they won't fit 4 lug 15" wheels. "

Oooppsss! Sorry Robert,

I ought to learn to read posts before responding . . .

I haven't seen anything worth buying in at least seven years. I guess that the problem is that the nipple caps never came on any factory application so everything is aftermarket. The early four lug nipple caps were great however! Mine came with genuine Porsche crests on them from the distributor, but that was years ago. One the ones made now, the chrome is thin and without a base plating of any kind. Worse though, even if you get them rechromed, you're dealing with very thin metal to begin with. I think that all of the current crop can be bent by hand.

Luck,

TC
