I'm finishing up the CMC-Wide, and just remembered that I need mirrors, all around...I have a picture of an IM "Turbo" done a while back with the Baby-Turbo style mirrors, and was wondering if anyone can tell me where I can find a set that will fit?? The little cheapie $8 units are attractive, but will they mount and align horizontally on the doors as they should?? Anyone have a source??? Also, where does one find the windshield post mounted mirrors, and black at that??

Tim: On the windshield mirror, I haven't seen ANY in black. I made up a mount out of Billet aluminum to attach mine to the windshield support (pic in nichols1) and then got a motorcycle handlebar mirror from a Kawasaki shop and modified it to fit - they might have them in black, too. Tweeks and other Porsche suppliers have the chrome ones (and mounts) for $75+......might find one on E-Bay cheaper.

Don't know what you would have to do to possibly paint one black and make the paint stick.
Bruce, Where did you mount the "baby Turbos"? I looked real hard at them for my JPS, but I could not get them to line up correctly to be useable, and to "look" right. They would not bend enough to get them horizontal. I have my current mirrors mounted on the door. Close as possible to the eye for maximum field of view. I bought some off-brand and had to "section" them to get the mounting arm lower. I guess customizing each part is half of the fun.

On the other hand, I put a black ski-boat convex miror on the windshield upright. Gives a complete view of all THREE lanes behind you (left, center and right). The depth perception is off, so don't use a convex mirror for judging distance, but simply for awareness, this the the best. Side benefit: You can see you own mug smiling back at you from the mirror as you drive along.
