I was gathering up some of my extra "Porsche" and "Speedster" script to sell and found a couple wrecked engine badges. Cracked enamel/cloisone, pitted & tarnished, etc. the usual for the old badges.

After a little poking around I think that I got them looking pretty good. Good enough to use on the car. The same process works pretty good with horn/hood crests as well.

I mean, they aren't factory perfect, but they look really nice and it's an especially good way to keep some of the older badges and crests that aren't available anywhere/anymore on the cars.

One of the badges was an original ADAC badge and it was SHOT, way beyond the "it's got character" excuse, just gone!
Now it's going front and center on the engine lid grill.

I guess that you could have them re-enameled and all, but I don't want to put real money into a car that isn't going into lawn event circut.

If anyone has a totaled enameled crest, something kinda worthless because of it's condition (I don't want to ruin a collectable using my usual half-assed techniques) but interesting, and wants to have it sort of brought back to life-let me know.

I can give it a try. If it works out-great!

RB,

THANK YOU!

I was going to reply in my usual "tongue in cheek" sort of way, except your post means too much to me for that.

I came here because of a series of emails with a "traditional" 356 guy whom I got some parts and advice from when I first picked up my car. He was kind of tolerent of me buy eventually told me that I would fit in better with the owners of replicas.

I'm really kind of happy that I kind of do. I've learned everything that I need from this site and even found a few bits and pieces for the cars as well thanks most recently to Gordon and Bob and all.

Thanks gang,

TC

Now . . . who wants a badge fixed up? It's free for cryin' out loud! I'll take some pics and show some tricks and everyone will be doin' their own next . . . come on, you can step and admit it. I just KNOW that ONE of you has been screwed by Ebay and bought what looked like a deal only to have a 3 inch brass disc with a mess of shattered enamel on it arrive in the mail.

Be a MAN! Admit it. I'll make it all better . . .
