Baker's is a restaurant about 30 miles from me. They hold the largest weekly car cruise in the country with hundreds of cars showing up every Sunday. This was my first time attending.  It officially starts at 2:00 pm but I discovered that some people arrive as early as 9:00 am to get a good spot.

The cars are mostly American cars from the 1930s on. There was one Porsche, a newish Cayman.  He was hugely interested in my car and wanted to trade.

Some people were interested in my car but a lot of people just walked by. I probably won't attend again.  The Ferrari is a replica.

How sensible. Most of our C&C or other shows start at 9:00, which means I’d have to be on the road at 7:30-8:00. I don’t do mornings. Neither does Milo. Especially for car shows. It’s a pretty rare day I’m motivated enough to make one.

Luckily, the two big VW shows are 2:00-6:00.

No offense but why take a "newish" Cayman to a car show unless you just park it over there because that's just how you got there.

So many of the car shows I go to these days include new cars.  It was something that took me a long time to get used to, and it still rankles me a little.

Parking a brand new car that you did nothing but buy or lease, beside an older car that someone restored over a number of years, and has some historic value, etc. doesn't sit right with me.

I like it. Where else am I going to see new Lotuses, Lambos, McLarens, etc? Now, if it was a Chevy Bolt, you might have a point. But I rather enjoy seeing a Cayman GT-4 close up away from the prying eyes of a Porsche salesman.

FWIW, the original Concours d’Elegance were the period’s equivalent of the Paris Auto Show.

Kinda reminds me of a C&C at a local Coffee Cafe that is advertised on their website as an open C&C, but since it is also included in the "Events" page of the Northeast PCA, the Porsche Purists, let's call them the PPs, all think it is supposed to be a Porsche Only event.  I just pull in, park, don't bat an eye, get out and start walking around.  None of the PPs give me a hard time, some even come over with intelligent questions.  And, as always, the lady spectators all love Pearl.  Guys, not quite so much.  Last week, some lady pulled in with a quite new, "Miami Blue" Porsche 718 and saw me next to Pearl.  She said that she should have parked next to Pearl because she thought they complemented each other.  🤔

I thought it was really interesting last month when the car that got the most attention, especially when he crank-started it, was a 1914 Dayton four passenger touring car.  Everyone gave him a round of applause as he putt-putted out of the parking lot.

I love going to mixed shows, even though the show organizers really don't know what to do with my car and I end up in "Special Interest".  That's like that one kitchen drawer you always have that holds all of the things that you don't know where they should go.

I did manage to convince the organizing ladies at a "Ty-Rods" Hot Rod show (In Vernon, CT, @edsnova!) that I should be part of a "Euro-Rods" group as a hot-rodded Porsche.   I think that my nerf bars sold it.  So they made up a sign for the windshield and Bob's your Uncle!  There I was!  Had my own "Euro-Rod" group with just ME in it!

🎶 Sign, sign
Everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery
Breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that
Can't you read the sign?🎶

I love the variety of the come-one, come-all cars & coffee shows. On Saturday I stopped to chat with the owner of a newish Polaris something. These are like the most radical sandrails you might build except they're factory with Ecotek engines. Absolute Mad Max extras. Dude had (I think) a Nevada plate on it, tiny like for a motor cycle. I had to ask.

He says MD hasn't got around to classifying these for street use yet. So, an LLC in another state and Bob's your uncle. He referenced a website that gets it done.

This is information I would not have learned in an all-classic environment.

Right behind my car on this day was a McLaren F1. I did not mind seeing that either.

There's always a ton of late model Porsches here.IMG_E0588

I love that they share the lot with stuff like IMG_E0602

andIMG_E0596

As I was making my last loop a couple rolled in with an Amphicar. IMG_E0611

They backed in between two pretty ordinary (to my eyes) monster trucks. Whose owners absolutely love them, I am sure.

This boy was absolutely gaga for the white Corvette.

Look at this picture:IMG_E0605

Pre-war Luxo-something next to a legit '50s rod across from an 80s turbo Buick which is two cars up from a Lamborghini which is parked next to a stanced Japanese pickup truck. . . .

It's absolute chaos, I tell you. As it should be.

The blue car ended up surrounded by late model Corvettes that morning. IMG_0621

People still found it.

@Michael McKelvey I know that sticker that you have.

In fact, I have about a dozen variations on the theme that different people contributed to this site a few years back when we were excited about this.

I offered what I did to Ed for his Spyder and didn't think having one showing a Speedster but affixed to a Spyder was as cool.

My personal favorite was the one from Mitch (I think), but those from Gandalf ( @Carlos G ) were pretty good and more subtle, too.

I think I got a few vinyl ones from Mitch Toll ( @Sacto Mitch ) that were a higher quality than anything I could print here.  It's interesting to see the reaction when some of the PPs see it - Either they laugh and show their friends or they get this serious, consternation look and walk away.

At this point, even though I have them, I don't really like the clown stickers. I would rather have some with the bird and shield.

Ideally, they would be easy to put on and remove so I wouldn't have t display them all the time.

Hit up Sticker Mule. I’m pretty sure you either get a really good deal, or you get an offer every week or so, once they get your email. Cut and paste the .jpg of your choice to their site and Bob’s yer uncle.

Getting a few is the only way to R&R AFAIK. They’re made out of the same stretchy vinyl they use for wraps and the two I’ve removed got stretched out quite a bit. (One tore). I don’t think you’d be able to reuse them. I’d send you a few but I’ve given most of mine away.

You know, Michael - Some of the Porsche bunch like to feel that they are a serious lot.  Some of them are (often to the extreme) and others see the cars as rolling art, or a treat to their driving senses or maybe just a fun investment and don't take themselves too seriously.  I never overtly give them a hard time about their attitude unless they become obnoxious or something and for that I have had exactly three people over the decades that truly felt that way, and then I found that everyone else avoids them, too!

I just go to the C&C events to have a good (read that cheap) time and BS with new and old friends and if the PPs are getting too serious, I introduce them to "Lightning Pearl":
