What do y'all say we convene somewhere for lunch tomorrow, Sunday the 13th, for one of those nearly spontaneous get-togethers like the Left Coasters do so often?
It's supposed to be in the fifties, warmish, and beautiful for the first time since October!
I propose a diner somewhere; geographically centralized for anybody interested, or the Middleton Tavern in Annapolis.

Who's in?

Well, it was a good time.

Sorry more of you fellas couldn't make it on such short notice, but the oysters and crab soup at the Middleton were fantastic. It was good to reconnect with Paul and Allison (hope I spelled that right), and catch up on all kinds of happenings, both to do with cars and life in general.

We ran into a guy named John from New Jersey who has a collection of old Jaguars and other cool stuff -- and who was here to buy a glass-cylinder-topped gasoline pump. I think Jersey will be a destination for some future point, too. By collection, it sounded like he had a "few" cars -- and we hope to see him on here soon.

He has seen Jim Ward's Ruby, Al Shapiro's prized possession, at the NJMP, and feels like he might have met Al at some juncture.

We're (Paul and I) thinking about going to a Baltimore brewery as a get-together in March, and would welcome thoughts on other places to go. There are about ten of us in the area now ... We're feeling like the lot of us really ought to cruise more.

i was raised in Merryland. Spent summer vacations in Ocean City and Rehobeth for 14 years. Went into Navy and settled in CA.
I go back every year to Crisfield(blue crab capital) for a week and see my sis, she lives right on the bay and merely steps into her boat from her back yard. she has a crab trap out daily and catches all she can eat. sometimes i miss it but it does get humid there, OMG.
Well I can see why Rich had the top up. That 47* we were supposed to get today sure a $hit didn't feel like it!!
Sorry I missed the get together. Hopefully I can make the next one. As mentioned, I did have an hour to sneak out and pick up my new toy/project. It needs a little work and definitely a change in the paint scheme. Think Gulf colors :)

Cory - anytime you can spend some seat-time on the road in a Speedster, well thats a good day. Sounds like you guys had a good time, and a good lunch, hmmmmmm!

Mickey - I can TOTALLY picture you on that motorcycle! I'm guessing thats a KZ-400 (a '77 or so). Nice choice for an old school cafe-racer. Now, not only do you own a cafe, now you can race one. Be careful out there, my brutha!
Yes Jim, it is an old KZ (1980 440) and get this, it only has 5300 original miles on it. It's just a little toy to tweek and pimp a little here and there when I have time. I doubt I'll ride it much. Since I don't have my speedy to play with anymore and the 911 is all done for the most part (aside from the interior and paint which I'm gonna wait to do a total tear down on) I don't have anything to keep my hands busy when I'm away from work. I've been doing one of my waiters CB250s as a cafe over the past few months when time allows and I'm almost done. I had so much fun doing it I thought I'd do one up for myself. It may end up being the Luckys Coffee Shop delivery vehicle ;)

Cory,
Got your message. Sorry I haven't called back. You know I'm running around. I get a few minutes here and there to sit and catch up here and other places but I never know when those minutes are gonna present themselves. Things sould settle down a bit after this week. My main guy in the kitchen is out for a week on maternity leave to help his wife and Ive been training a new cook. Along with Valentines Day today and a whole list of other things going on etc.... ya know where I coming from.
OK, I'd be totally in for DC/B'more cruises, impromtu or otherwise(did someone say brew-pub??) as we move fwd here. Hopefully we are over critical mass with owners/drivers within striking dustance, and so can get what might look like a group. I just need a teensy bit more warning, so can plan.

Sorry I missed you folks on Sunday -- this week-end was booked. May go for a fire-up tonight as the trickle charger says green-light, and there is gas in the tank.
Dale,
Not sure i got the email... ill look.

I have to say I have driven to annapolis on a beautiful summer afternoon more times than i care to count and not once have i gotten the reception that Cory received driving through that town. people grinning ear to ear, families waving, kids clapping and shouting... i felt like i was in a parade. Something about that Hoopty that makes people smile. I will be taking a rattle can of primer gray to my ride this weekend.

Cory, was a good time, good oysters, good beer and good company... looking forward to the next ride.
