Yes, wheel is flat and the column boss makes up for this ... has a hard surface that easily is wiped clean.
my first speedy came with repro banjo but it was too thin, kept flexing in the turns, went to a nardi wood and much better feel.
Bob you don't happen to still have the Banjo wheel? I'm in need of one and hate to pay for a over priced new wheel ...~Alan
There was a really mint one, with one of those "neo-classical-hippie-solar-system-God" horn buttons at the litchfield VW show for a mere $350. I offered $225 and the guy blew me off, so I told him I was gonna trash the wheel and keep the horn button and that REALLY pissed him off!!

alan, no i dont, sorry, believe i sold it for 200= shipping. this was 3 years ago,
Cip1 has the wheel for $219, but the horn button is like $89 more. The hub kit's another $100.
so, $400+ shipping. Yikes.
Someone had that wheel at Carlisle and I thought it was da bomb.
Yeah a banjo hub and P button gets way expensive....it has the look though.

If you really want that banjo wheel. lemme know. The seller is a good friend of mine, I can work a good deal for you. Was gonna scoop it up but I thought that the rim was a little light weight and the area where the spokes attached was too "squared up" towards the face, needed a more rounded profile to look right.
